Hello! This is mwolloSEE.!! who lives in Korea!🙋🙋
It is said that foreign termites appeared in Korea.
Authorities have launched an investigation after reports of foreign termites gnawing at dry trees in downtown Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Environment on the 18th, the National Institute of Biological Resources and the National Institute of Ecology began an investigation after a report was received that termites were found in a house in Gangnam-gu, Seoul the previous day.
Professor Park Hyun-chul of Pusan National University, a termite expert, said, "If you look at the photos posted on the online community, it looks like a termite belonging to the dry tree termite family," adding, "If it is true, it is a very serious situation."
Professor Park added that if the termites in the online community photo are dried tree termites and termites, they will be found for the first time in Korea.
These termites live by consuming "cellulose," the main ingredient of wood, and for this purpose, they are called "building grim reaper," which starts nibbling on the inside of the wood and causes serious damage to the structure.
In addition to "dry tree termites," Japanese termites and "Kanmon termites" live in Korea, and unlike these species, dry tree termites eat moisture-free wood, so not only buildings but also household furniture can be prey.
Professor Park said, "If domestic termites only damage trees in humid and shady places, dry tree termites and termites gnaw all trees," adding, "They are considered the most troublesome insects in the world."
In particular, Professor Park was concerned that termites posted on the online community had wings.
It is a wing for mating flight, and termites start mating only when the colony stabilizes five to ten years after forming a cluster. In other words, dry tree termites and termites may already be prevalent long after they entered Korea.

Professor Park said, "In Australia, houses sometimes collapse due to dry tree termites and termites," adding, "It is also a problem that there are no experts in Korea to prevent this species."
😨There's no specialist..It's a big problem....
